January 2007 Newsletter

I want to unfold.
I don’t want to stay folded anywhere,
because where I am folded, there I am a lie.

Hello fellow dreamers:
Happy New Year! I hope this finds you doing well and back into the swing of things after the holiday season. Personally, I have been fighting a strong urge to hibernate due to the exceptionally cold and snowy weather we’ve been having here in Colorado. Did I unwittingly sign up for a reality show titled “Survivor: Colorado Blizzard!”? These back-to-back snowstorms have been phenomenally exhausting as just getting from “point A to point B” has been a major chore. Now that the sun is out (at least for today), I’m slowly thawing out and thought I would finally get the January newsletter out before the next storm hits!
Look for my article Only the Shadow Knows in the Jan/Feb issue of the Healing Path or you’ll find a link to the article on the “Resources and Links” page on my website. Also, take a look at the “Books” page which has some new additions as well. For anyone facing the challenges of running their own business, check out the book link to Priestess Entrepreneur, by Cindy Morris, a humorous and heartfelt account of the author’s life lessons learned through running her own business and how this ten-year journey eventually leads to her deeper spiritual awareness of life in general . (remember to refresh the page if you’ve visited recently.)
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the upcoming Spring Dreamwork Retreat at Sunrise Ranch, May 18-20, 2007. This will be the eighth retreat at Sunrise! Thanks to all of you who have made the retreats such a continuing success. The brochures are currently in production and will be mailed out late Jan or early Feb. If you know someone whom you think might like to join us this time around, just send me their mailing address by email and I’ll make sure they get a copy of the brochure once they’re printed.
The Wed night and Thurs night Dream Groups are still going strong! For upcoming dates, check out my web calendar on the “News and Events” page. To reserve your spot for any group, please call 303-929-6122 or email me at wakeuptoyourdreams@earthlink.net Drop-in rate $25 ~ $20 when you sign up for two or more sessions.

Brenda Ferrimani and I will be co-hosting another Boulder County Dreamers Meetup Feb 1st. These meetings are being offered to those who haven’t had an opportunity to attend one of the groups or workshops but who are still curious to learn more about their dreams. Or, if you just haven’t had the chance to connect in a while and would like to come by and say hello, please join us!There will be one Meetup each month, the date and location of which to be announced at the beginning of the month. We plan to offer the meetings at different coffee shops in Lafayette, Longmont and Boulder. Each meeting will have a general theme centered around how to better understand your dreams and why it’s important to honor them. This will be more of a discussion forum rather than a structured group, however, we hope to offer whatever insights we can to all those who attend. We will also welcome any general questions about dreams and dreaming as well. This month’s topic will be “Nightmares: Why are some dreams impossible to forget?”
The fee is only $5.00
This month’s Meetup will be at the Starbucks at the corner of Hwy 287 and South Boulder Road in Lafayette, 6:30-8:30PM.
Meetup.com is an on-line community designed to bring together people with similar interests in the same geographical area who might not have met otherwise! They offer a large variety of topics in a wide range of areas.

Dream Portrayal Workshops

Sat, Feb 3rd, 10AM to 4PM, Boulder
Sat, Feb 10th, 10AM to 4PM, Denver
Most of you on this list have had the pleasure of meeting Irene and Mike and especially those of you who attended the last Fall Dreamwork Retreat will remember their brilliant work with the Dream Portrayal break-out sessions. Read on for info on their upcoming workshops in February:
Note from Irene and Mike:

Last year our Dream Portrayal workshops in Denver and Boulder and at Sunrise Ranch were astounding, profound and often life-changing, and we can’t wait to get back to doing this work. Please join us! The first daylong Dream Portrayal workshop of 2007 will be Saturday, Feb. 3, in Billie Ortiz’ sunny Boulder space. Saturday, Feb.10, we will be doing Dream Portrayal at Connie Lehman’s lovely LoDo loft in Denver.
Both events will be limited to eight participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
Dream Portrayal combines group discussions with techniques that allow participants to embody and interact with dream characters and physically explore dream landscapes. Bring a dream to put in the hat and/or learn by entering others’ dreams for an unforgettable journey into the mysteries of the collective unconscious.

Please call or email if you have questions. We love to talk about this work!

Dream Portrayal facilitator Michael Tappan has trained in improv theater and apprenticed with shamans in Siberia and the Ecuadorian Andes.
Irene Clurman is a yoga teacher and longtime dreamworker.

Fri, Feb 9th, 7PM-9PM,
Sat, Feb 10th, 11AM-3M
Sun, Feb 11th, 10AM-Noon
Many of you know Star from the Dreamwork Retreats, mostly for her heavenly harp music that accompanies our meals but you might not know that she’s also a very talented artist and dreamworker as well. Here’s some information about her upcoming “Altered Book” workshops:
A note from Star:
Altered books are art projects that may (or may not) convey “sequence” (as in a story). Pages are “altered” in a way that a transformation takes place on each page. Many times a book is also seen as a metaphor for our life – since we also experience sequence; books make a perfect medium for that expression. The materials we use are any hardback book, any size, shape or content. The pages and cover are all altered with a multitude of textures, colors, words, music, quotes, stories, or ideas. Books have been altered with paint, glaze, cloth, lace, leather, metal, leaves, paper (any kind!), buttons, stones, feathers etc. Our imagination is our only limitation! We will learn to create simple pop-up designs, doors, folded pages and anything that will give the dream a solid form to hold. In creating an altered book about one dream or the central theme in many dreams – pictures (from magazines, photos, old cards etc), drawings, and anything that will bring the dreamer more in touch with the symbols are used.Call 303-366-2922 for more information

Cost is $60 for non-members – $55 for members (for one workshop)
For the series of all 3 workshops (#1 on Dreams, #2 on Threads of Life, #3 on Love), the fee is $150 for members and $180 for non-members
The dates for #2 “Threads” and #3 “Love” workshops will be announced soon.
